What we collect

  • Enquiries include the name, email, project details and other information you choose to submit.
  • Newsletter records include your email, subscription and confirmation status, and referral information where applicable.
  • Comments include your submitted name, message, optional website and private email address.
  • Learning accounts include your name, email, protected sign-in details, assigned courses, progress, quiz attempts, notes, writing projects and support conversations.
  • Client rooms hold shared project information, writing versions, feedback, messages, uploaded files, images and voice messages. Online status and last activity help participants coordinate their work.
  • Technical information can include browser, device, network and request information used to deliver the site, protect accounts and investigate errors.

Please avoid putting unnecessary sensitive information into forms, drafts or attachments.

How information is used

Information helps us respond to enquiries, deliver requested newsletters, provide course access and support, save learning progress, collaborate on client projects, moderate comments and keep the website secure. Optional visit statistics help us understand public readership and improve the experience.

Cookies and browser storage

PurposeWhat it doesYour choice
Sign-in sessionsKeep authorised accounts signed in and protect private actions.Sign out or clear site cookies. Blocking these cookies can prevent account features from working.
Reading preferencesRemember reading history, saved stories, finished articles, appearance and motion settings in your browser.Change or clear these in Preferences.
Optional AnalyticsGoogle Analytics uses cookies and technical information to measure public visits, engagement and selected actions.Allow or decline. Change your decision in Preferences.
Referral storageA newsletter referral code may remain in the current browser tab for up to one day.Clear the referral in Preferences or close the tab.

Browser-only reading history does not sync across devices and is not available as an individual reading-history list in the admin dashboard.

Optional browser notifications

If you enable browser notifications, we store your browser subscription endpoint and encryption keys to deliver article, guide and course announcements. Your browser platform processes delivery. Expired subscriptions are removed when the platform reports them as unavailable. You can turn off notifications in Preferences or your browser settings. The invitation remembers a dismissal for 7 days in this browser.

Optional visit statistics

Google Analytics loads on public pages only after you allow it. It measures visits, public article engagement, contact clicks, public file downloads and successful enquiry or newsletter signup requests. Reports can include approximate country, browser and device information.

Private student dashboards, admin pages, client rooms and private course downloads are excluded. Form messages, email addresses, invitation tokens and recovery codes are not intentionally sent to Analytics. Advertising personalisation is not enabled. Declining Analytics does not prevent you from using the website.

Analytics uses cookies and identifiers, so these statistics are not completely anonymous. Read Google’s explanation of Analytics data.

Account protection and operational history

Owner two-factor setup secrets are encrypted. Recovery codes are stored as hashes and can be used once. Team accounts use role and assignment permissions. We keep work assignments, revisions, review decisions and activity records so the owner and authorised coordinators can manage editorial and teaching work. Private tutor notes are visible to their author and the owner. Team members can enable an authenticator for their sign-in. Operational event history is cleaned after 180 days. Private recovery backups can retain earlier copies until those backups are removed.

Services that help run the site

  • Cloudflare provides website hosting and database services.
  • Brevo handles requested newsletter emails and project-enquiry notifications.
  • Google Analytics provides optional public website measurement.
  • YouTube supplies selected embedded course videos. Loading a player or following a source link can share technical information with that service. Its player, advertising and privacy rules apply.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their privacy terms apply to their services. We do not sell submitted personal information. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or needed to protect the service and its users.

What is public and what stays private

Your submitted comment name, message and optional website may appear publicly. Comment email addresses are not published. Enquiries and subscription addresses are not public directories. Client material is shared with the authorised project participants and administrator. Learning work and support messages are available through the relevant learning account and authorised teaching administration.

Retention and removal

Records are kept while needed to provide the relevant service, maintain account and project history, resolve enquiries or meet applicable obligations. There is no single automatic deletion period for all records. Some records remain until an administrator removes them. Email suppression or consent records may be retained after unsubscribing to respect your choice.

Clearing browser data removes local preferences, not server records. Pausing course access does not delete saved progress. Permanent project deletion removes the linked room records and stored attachments from active project storage. Files already downloaded by a recipient cannot be recalled, and provider backups or delivery logs may follow different retention rules.

Student portfolios and data downloads

Students can download their personal learning data and request account deletion from My portfolio & data. A public portfolio is optional. Only the chosen display name, introduction, writing samples and optional completion record are published. Students can stop sharing at any time. Paused learning access also makes the portfolio unavailable.

Your choices and requests

You can decline visit statistics, change browser preferences and unsubscribe using the link in newsletter emails. Depending on applicable law, you may also be entitled to request access, correction or deletion, or raise concerns about processing. Email the author with enough detail to locate the relevant account or submission. We may need to verify the request before disclosing or changing information.

Keeping information secure

Access controls, protected sessions and server checks help keep private information restricted. No internet service can promise complete security. Keep passwords, recovery codes and private invitation links confidential. Report unexpected access to the author.
